Located on the battlefield of Verdun, the Trench of Chattancourt is a unique place as it was redug on the exact location of an active WWI frontline trench.
Capturing the original intersection where the Trench of Chattancourt and the Trench of Toulouse met, the reconstructed interior allows to relieve how french soldiers experienced life in the trenches in 1916.
Each part of the trench has been rebuilt as it was during the war thanks to orignal maps and documents, photographs and accounts of the soldiers who served here.
Visitors can experience for themselves what life was like in the trenches thanks to the detailes constructions techniques, numerous original artifacts an informatives explanations provided. More than 100 meters of original trench and shelters have been dug an buit exactly as it was during WWI. This a very interesting place either for adults or kids to understand the War of Trenches.
