La Falouse Fort
Dominating the Meuse valley, this modern concrete building was constructed between 1906 and 1908. It was the last fort to be built in the Verdun area and was never subjected to an artillery bombardment, hence its perfect state of preservation, with major, unique, original features such as its turret for two machine guns, its turret for two 75mm guns and its infantry gatehouse. Today, 30 life-sized figures recreate the life of its garrison in 1916, behind the front line. Visitors can also walk along a 150m-long trench.
