Kampfgruppe Peiper. The fighting group of the first SS Division, which had to open the road and spread terror throughout The Ardennes.
During this day, you will pace up and down the different places where the “Kampfgruppe Peiper”, spearhead of the attack of the first SS Division, spread terror during the Battle of the Bulge.
You will start your journey by Lanzerath, where an American platoon stopped the German attack for a day. Then you will go up to Honsfeld where, while they were having a rest, the German attack took the American troops aback.
Afterwards, you will take the direction of Baugnez where you will stop in front of the Memorial of the Massacre of American prisoners.
You will follow the path on the bloody road of the progression from Baugnez up to Stavelot, with the decisive bridges of Stavelot, Trois-Ponts and Habiémont.
Your journey will touch to the end on the places where the Battles of Cheneux and Stoumont took place, marking the end of the break, without forgetting to stop in front of the Tigre Royal of La Gleize.
